Zhumell 1.25" Laser Collimator (1.25-LASER) ZHUL033-1 makes quick work of aligning the optics in your reflector telescope. Put 1.25 " Zhumell Laser Collimation Tool ZHUL033-1 in the eyepiece receptacle, turn on the laser, and use the crosshair pattern in the collimator to ensure your telescope's primary mirror is properly aligned. Easy to use and durable, Zhumell 1.25" Laser Collimator ZHUL033-1 fits into your telescope case so that it is handy when you need it.

COLLIMATION:
Collimation is the alignment of elements in an optical system. Collimating a telescope consists of adjusting the tilt and position of any mirrors and lenses involved in the optical system of the telescope to ensure that the focal point of the optical system reaches optimum focus at the point from which the image will be viewed. Relector telescopes consist of a primary mirror, a secondary mirror, and an eyepiece. Just like a piano needs occasional tuning, the mirrors in a reflector optical system will need to be collimated for optimum performance.

WHY COLLIMATE:
Many factors can affect the alignment of your optical system. Vibrations from movement or expansion and contraction from temperature changes can cause the mirrors in a reflector to move slightly. A mirror which is not properly aligned will cause the light path to shift and can make acheiving optimum focus impossible. The changes to the optical system's light path will cause an image to become blurry or unviewable depending on the severity of misalignment.

WHEN TO COLLIMATE:
In order to ensure that you are seeing the best images your telescope is capable of providing, you should quickly collimate your telescope before each use. Additionally, you should collimate your telescope any time images become blurry. A blurred image can be an indication that elements of the optical system are out of alignment.
