Mini electrophoresis systems include all components necessary to cast and run horizontal gels for a variety of nucleic acid applications. Two small 5.2x6cm (21/16x23/8") gels or one large 10.7x6cm (47/32x23/8") or long 10.7x10cm (47/32x315/16") gel may be run and as many as 96 samples can be run on a long gel.

The migration tank is molded for leakproof performance and a long service life. The power supply connects directly into the gel box so there are no leads to get tangled and the proper connection is guaranteed. The power connection is made at the lid-gel box interface; for safety, the lid cannot be removed without first disconnecting the power supply. The membrane keypad on the power supply is used to choose one of four output voltage settings, and the large digital display clearly shows the parameter selected. Operation can be untimed or timed from 5 to 99 minutes with an audible alert and power shut-off at expiration time.

The unique casting sets are designed for pouring gels without the use of tape or spacers, and casting trays feature multiple slots for holding combs in place. A black band at the top end of the gel tray provides a contrast between the gel and the tray for easier visualization of the wells. The black horizontal lines allow for tracking progress of the dye front. The standard casting set allows up to six gels to be poured at one time. It includes two 10.7x6cm (47/32x23/8") gel trays, four 5.2x6cm (21/16x23/8") gel trays, two dual-format combs (12/17 and 6/8 teeth), and a casting stand for six gels. The long casting set is ideal for running large numbers of samples and makes 10.7x10cm (47/32x315/16") gels. It includes two casting stands; two gel trays; and four dual-format, multichannel combs (12/24 teeth). The multichannel combs make loading large quantities of samples faster and easier, and the wells formed by these combs are compatible with 8- and 12-channel pipettors.

The 120V system has a standard US cord; the 230V system includes UK and EU power cords. Preparative comb 93000-298 has three set of teeth, one for small gels and two for micro gels; 25/12 teeth, 12/2 large teeth + 2 marker teeth, and 12/1 large tooth + 2 marker teeth. Dual-format preparative comb 93000-306 includes 17 teeth on one side, two marker teeth, and one large and three small prep teeth.
