military. These Suunto compasses are great for working in areas of large magnetic variation. Each model of the Suunto MC Mirrored Compass is equipped with a ruler, sighting hole, mirror and baseplate. The MCA compass by Suunto is a compact mirror compass designed with practicality in mind. The Suunto MCB Compass is an ergonomically designed multi-purpose mirror compass that combines precision with practicality. Suunto MC-2 Compass is a professional mirror compass for precise directional measurements. Suunto MC Series Compasses are also available with a Global Needle that will perform perfectly with needle tilts of up to 20 degrees. This allows a single compass to be used effectively in all five of the Earth's zones./p>
The vertical intensity and direction of the earth's magnetic field, the inclination, influences the horizontal plane of a compass needle according to the latitude where it is used. Due to inclination, MC Compasses by Suunto must be balanced for different geographical zones in order to keep the needle in a horizontal position. Previously, the globe was divided into five different balance zones in which specific compasses functioned. However, as people travel more and more, the need for a compass with a greater geographical range has increased. Thanks to the Suunto Two Zone System there are only two balance zones to consider in compass use - the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere. In practice, this means that a Suunto MC Navigator Compass designed for the northern hemisphere will still work for a fair distance into the southern hemisphere, and vice-versa. Suunto also makes globall balanced compasses, which can be used accurately all over the world.
