Prescription Orders Policy

OpticsPlanet.com offers the latest models of 100% Genuine and Authentic prescription eyewear and because of the nature of these products, they fall under exceptions to our normal policy procedures. We have an exceptional track record with our prescription eyewear customers and many of them keep coming back for replacements and new frame styles. We know that you will be happy with your RX purchase from OpticsPlanet.com!
The following policies have been written to make your prescription eyewear ordering to go as smoothly as possible. These policies apply to all prescription purchases from OpticsPlanet and its sister online stores.

  • Prescription Orders can only be placed online. To ensure the accuracy of your prescription order, all orders must be placed online using our simple prescription form. Because online orders are more accurate, we cannot take orders for prescription eyewear via phone, fax, mail or e-mail. If you need some assistance understanding your prescription and entering it into our form, please read our guide that explains How to Read Your Eyeglasses Prescription. For additional information please take a look at the following pages: Bifocal Lenses in Prescription Sunglasses and Progressive Lenses in Prescription Sunglasses.
  • All Custom Orders are prepaid. This means that we will charge your credit card before we send your prescription order to the lab for processing. We cannot make any changes to your order once it has been sent to the lab for production.
  • All Prescription eyewear is custom made for you per your prescription. Depending on a prescription type, complexity and availability of the frame it might take from several days to several weeks to complete your custom order.  The regular processing time for most prescription eyewear is 2 to 3 weeks. However, if the RX eyewear was made within this time but did not pass the inspection due to any quality issue, we may send the prescription eyewear back to the lab to remake it. We want to make sure you get the highest quality product that is made right; even if the lab needs to spend extra time fixing it. Expedited ($25 extra -  8-9 business days) and rush ($35 extra - 3-5 business days) processing options are only available for the following brands:
  • All sales for prescription eyewear we offer on our web site are final. We do not accept any returns of RX eyewear customized to our client's prescription. If your prescription is not correct, we’ll be happy to test them and make sure the lab got it right, and then send them back to the lab if necessary. If you’re not sure that the RX glasses, sunglasses or goggles will fit you, you can always use our Trial Program before ordering prescription eyewear.
  • Make sure you have a current prescription from your eye doctor - OpticsPlanet product specialists are not licensed to give any medical diagnoses and we will rely only upon the RX information given by you, so please provide us with all the details of your relevant prescription. Please be sure that your prescription is less than 1 year old and it is issued by a licensed Ophthalmic Optician. If your prescription was issued more than a year ago, we highly recommend you to visit your local optometrist to get a new one.
  • Copy Your Prescription in our online form exactly from your prescription form as your eye doctor prescribed - You may not be able to see well with your new prescription glasses if you enter incorrect prescription information such as an inaccurate Pupil Distance measurement when placing your order. Please note that we cannot be responsible for mistakes in prescription information provided by you, your optometrist or ophthalmologist. We guarantee that the prescription lenses in your new RX prescription sunglasses will be made exactly to the specification that you provide when placing your order in our on-line store. After the order is placed, we normally are not able to make any changes or cancel orders. In rare cases when we can make changes to your prescription order made after it has been submitted to the lab, it will result in charge of 50% of the price of the original order. All cancelled RX jobs after we have started to customize any materials to your specification or requirements will be charged 50% of the price of the original order as well.
  • We do things right! - If you think something is wrong with your new prescription, you can take your new glasses to your local independent optician, who will double check the prescription to make sure it’s what was prescribed. OpticsPlanet.com strives to provide the very best quality in everything we do; nevertheless, we recognize that errors occur. If one of our labs made an error filling your prescription (with our skilled and highly trained licensed opticians this is a rare event) we will remake the RX eyewear in the same lens, frame style and color you ordered. All laboratory errors must be returned to the lab within 14 days after the order was received. The original paperwork that came with the original prescription eyewear should be included in the package with the return. Before sending the prescription sunglasses, RX glasses, prescription goggles or RX inserts back to the lab, it is highly recommended to contact Optics Planet first toll-free (800) 504-5897 or via email.
  • You might need to get used to your new prescription glasses - Please note that you may need some time to adjust to your new RX sunglasses, goggles, eye-glasses or inserts. If you cannot adapt to your new prescription eyewear you bought from us, you might need a slight fitting adjustment by your local optician. Some people with strong prescriptions take a bit longer to adapt to progressive lenses as well as bifocal and tri-focal prescriptions. It is common to experience dizziness and headaches during the adaptation period. Getting accustomed to progressive glasses can be difficult. In order to use progressive glasses or progressive sunglasses, you must learn to move your head to see things; you cannot just move your eyes because you will be looking through a blurry part of the lens. For more information, follow this link to read about progressive lenses in prescription sunglasses. Some people might have problems with adapting not only to progressive lenses, but to single vision and bifocal lenses as well. Most of them can adapt within a month, but some people never adapt. Please note that all prescription sunglasses are custom made for your specific prescription, and we cannot issue refunds on custom made RX Eyewear. We cannot issue a refund and take prescription eyewear back if we made the eyewear according to the prescription information you provided us with and you still cannot adapt to your new prescription.
  • Authentic Bolle and Serengeti Progressive Prescription Sunglasses Satisfaction Guarantee - In the event you still have problems adjusting to your new Bolle prescription sunglasses with progressive lenses or Serengeti progressive sunglasses within 90 days, we will credit the original RX in full, provided that a pair of single vision lenses is ordered from us in its place. These lenses must be of the same prescription and frame shape as the original progressive lens order. If you cannot adapt to your new Bolle Optics progressive glasses within 90 days, the lenses can be replaced with another no line progressive lenses style. Please note that this return policy applies only to Bolle and Serengeti Progressive Sunglasses.
  • Please read the description before placing your order - Prescription Parameters and Limitations are located on brand pages for every kind of prescription eyewear. We advise our customers to check these parameters before ordering the RX eye wear. We are always here to help if you need any assistance in choosing the right frame for you. Please note, that the thickness of the RX lens depends on different parameters and one of them is your prescription. Even if the frame can accept your high prescription, it does not mean that the thickness of the prescription lenses in your new prescription sunglasses will be same as the thickness of the non-prescription lenses in the same model of sunglasses. The RX labs we work with are the best in the business, and they are always striving to provide the best quality in everything they do, that's why even if you have a high RX, they will do their best and your prescription eyewear will look great, even if they need to hide the thickness of the lens behind the frame.
  • Frame and Lens Color - We have made our best effort to display all the colors of the lenses and frames for prescription eyewear we sell on our web site as accurately as possible, however, we cannot guarantee it will exactly match the color of the items you receive due to the different color settings of your computer monitor equipment.
We are unable to fit a new prescription in your existing frame - All prescriptions must be made from brand new frames or Rx adapters supplied to us directly from the manufacturer. Because of the risk of damage to your old frames or lenses,  we cannot reuse your existing lenses or frames.  To ensure your satisfaction you must purchase a complete Rx pair from us – both RX lenses with the Rx frame or Rx adapter.
