Brand and Product Category Specific Policies

OpticsPlanet, Inc. carries a wide variety of product lines. Because of the nature of some of these products, they fall under exceptions to our normal policy procedures. We will work with you to ensure your 100% satisfaction regardless of what kind of order you’re placing.

Meade and Celestron Telescopes

Telescopes by the industry leader Celestron cannot currently be exported outside the United States (except to Canada) because of our agreements with them.

Also, there are some instances when the sales tax you are charged for Meade and Celestron may be different than most orders out of Illinois. Large Aperture Telescopes (10” and up) such as the Meade LXD 75 telescopes and some Celestron Telescopes are often shipped directly from their respective factories in California. If you live in California, you will be charged the California rate for sales tax. If you are having your large Meade Telescopes and Celestron Telescopes order shipped to California, we will notify you about the exact tax amount BEFORE we charge your credit card and have your order shipped.

Non-Exportable Brands

Due to our agreements with out suppliers, there are shipping, export and resale restrictions on the following brands:

Currently there are certain countries that we cannot ship to via USPS because of insurance reasons. To see complete list, click here. However, we can ship UPS Worldwide Express or UPS Worldwide Expedited, much faster services.

Lab Equipment

OpticsPlanet carries a large selection of laboratory supplies from microscopes and chemicals, to beakers and Bunsen burners. If your lab needs it, we have it.

Please keep the following policies in mind when placing your order:

  • Some items have an extra hazardous material shipping fee. This information is posted on the product page of the chemical you are ordering. This fee is per package/box. If we have to ship the product in multiple boxes, the Hazmat fee is applied to EACH box.
  • Because of government shipping regulation some hazardous items can only be shipped via UPS Ground Shipping.
  • Chemicals cannot currently be shipped internationally

Free Shipping Exceptions Policies

There are a limited number of items that we are not able to provide Free Shipping for. Items that are too large to be transported via UPS (weight limit 150lbs) and USPS (weight limit 70lbs) must be transported via Freight Option. Hazardous materials incur an extra hazardous materials shipping fee. Products with exceptions to our offer of Free Shipping have that information posted on their respective product pages. We will notify our customers prior to shipping their order if we have to assess additional charges for shipping.
