Product and Brand Specific PoliciesOpticsPlanet, Inc. carries a wide variety of product lines. Because of the nature of some of these products, a limited number of items fall under exceptions to our normal shipping, customer verification, returns and export policies and procedures. The following items have exceptions to our ordering policies:
PaymentOpticsPlanet.com accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, PayPal, Purchase Orders, certified checks and money orders. Credit Card payments are submitted immediately when the order is ready to ship, and only the items shipped will be charged. If you decide to pay by a personal check or money order, you must complete and send our order form ( PDF) along with your payment. Personal checks and business checks must clear before shipment. OpticsPlanet.com accepts (but does not require) Purchase Orders (PO's) from Fortune 1000 companies, universities and educational institutions, and government agencies. In order to pay with PayPal simply select the "Pay using PayPal" option below the "Pay using Credit Card" option at checkout. Please note that your shipping address must be confirmed with PayPal. We do not accept COD payments at this time. American Express Credit Card is acceptable and preferred method for international orders over $200 provided the package is shipped to the billing address on the credit card statement because we are able to verify these accounts in most areas of the world. Bank wire transfers are also acceptable. In choosing wire transfer as your payment method, your bank will charge you a fee to process your wire. Please note that there is an additional $45 bank service fee for this payment type that our bank charges us, so $45 USD should be added to the total. Please add the wire transfer fees to the cost of your order. Not calculating these fees could delay processing of your order. If you wish to use a coupon code with your order, only one coupon code may be used per order. Government, Military, Law Enforcement and Institutional Orders PolicyOpticsPlanet, Inc. is proud to offer its wide selection of products for sale to Government, Military and Institutions. We make the purchase process easy and painless and go the extra step to make sure your organization is completely satisfied. We offer volume discounts to qualified organizations. OpticsPlanet, Inc. is an authorized CCR Supplier to the United States Government, an active Department of Defense Vendor with Dun & Bradstreet number 118517445. We accept Government and Institutional purchase orders and are capable of processing various bids and RFQ requests. Sales TaxIn most instances, we do NOT charge Sales tax UNLESS your order is shipped to an address within the state of Illinois. Illinois State law requires that we charge sales tax on the full amount of the order, not including shipping, if shipped within the state of Illinois. Because we are located in Northbrook, IL (located in Cook County), all shipments to Illinois addresses are charged at that local rate of 8.5% (After March 31st, 2008: 8.75%). No sales tax is charged when buying gift certificates. However, purchases paid for with OpticsPlanet gift certificates, will be charged sales tax if shipped to addresses within the state of Illinois. In some cases, which vary from state to state, we may be required to charge you sales tax when items are shipped directly from the manufacturer. For example, Large Aperture Telescopes (10” and up) such as the Meade LXD 75 telescope or some Celestron Telescopes may be shipped directly from their respective factories in California. Orders for these items with a Ship-to address located in California will be charged the California rate for sales tax. In the event that sales tax has to be added to your order, we will notify you immediately with the exact tax amount BEFORE we charge your credit card and have your order shipped. International OrdersOpticsPlanet has thousands of satisfied customers from around the world. We specialize in shipping internationally and endeavor to make the process as simple as possible for our customers. Shipping: We ship most of our products worldwide (see our shipping and export restriction polices for more details on the exceptions). Shipping charges are automatically calculated during checkout when you enter your address. For shipments outside of the US, shipping charges cannot be $0 in the cart if you select a valid shipping method for your country (see details on intl. shipping here). Please ignore the "Freight" option, it is not a free shipping option as it is used for price quotes on large volume orders. Currently there are certain counties that we cannot ship to via USPS because of insurance reasons. To see complete list, click here. However, we can ship UPS Worldwide Express or UPS Worldwide Expedited, much faster services. Fees, Taxes, and Restrictions: Please keep in mind that your government or another entity in your country may impose a charge for custom and/or brokerage fees, duties and taxes on items received from the US. You are responsible for payment of all custom and brokerage fees, duties and taxes that may be imposed when these goods are imported into your country. Please note that all returns require a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) Number, which can be easily obtained online. You can return purchased items within 30 days of receipt for an exchange or full refund (less shipping charges) subject to our Return Conditions. Items that are not defective must be returned in NEW (unopened, unused, untested, and resalable) condition, in the original manufacturer packaging, with all the original contents included. There are usually no restocking fees for the return of items meeting the above mentioned conditions providing they are returned within 30 days of receipt and they do not fall under our Return Policy Exceptions and our Return and Exchange Instructions are correctly followed.
