Meade 80mm Series 5000 ED APO Apochromatic Refractor Telescopes are excellent for wide-field deep sky astrophotography and visual observation of the moon, planets, double stars and clusters. Apochromatic Refractor Telescopes use two (or preferably three) elements of a much more expensive ED glass (extra-low dispersion) to colorcorrect the image and eliminate color fringing. Meade 's triplet design does this especially well. Meade 80 mm Telescope Series 5000 ED APO Apochromatic Refractors offer some of the finest views in all astronomy at their respective apertures. Meade 80mm ED APO Apochromatic Telescopes Series 5000 are available as a standalone OTA (model 0306-00-01), or as a package with Meade Series 5000 2" enhanced diagonal and an Meade Aluminum Hard Carry Case (model 0306-00-02, SHOWN). Meade Series 5000 ED APO Apochromatic Telescope is the ideal companion for your larger Schmidt-Cassegrain, Ritchey-Chretien, or Newtonian Telescopes. When piggybacked, a Meade Series 5000 ED APO is the ideal wide-field astrophotography telescope when guided by the primary instrument and doubles as a guide scope for the primary telescope. These Meade Telescopes also make an ideal lightweight and portable scope for flawless visual observing. For crisp wide field observing and imaging, nothing can beat a true triple-element apochromatic refractor (APO). This is especially true in astrophotography, where apochromatic refractor telescopes (APOs) have produced some of the most beautiful images of the heavens ever taken from earth. But not all apochromatic refractors are created equal. Today's market is filled with semi-APOs (with two lenses instead of three) that don't bring all the colors to focus in the refractor.

Thanks to a two-year design process and a triple objective lens made from the highest quality ED glass (extra-low dispersion glass), Meade 80mm ED APO Series 5000 Apochromatic Refractor Telescopes are virtually free of chromatic aberration (color fringing). This means Meade 80mm Series 5000 ED APO Refractors outperform the most expensive semi-APOs at a fraction of the cost. Expert observers will be delighted by the total absence of color fringing and the scope�s textbook-perfect pinpoint star images. Even beginners will notice the breathtaking high contrast and resolution of Meade Series 5000 ED APO Refractors.

Meade 80mm Series 5000 AD APO Apochromatic Refractor Telescopes feature Premium ED Glass, True ED Apochromatic Triplet optical design, fast focal ratio, air-spased objective lens, fully-multi coated optics and superior focuser.

At f/6 the focal ratio of Meade 80 mm ED APO Telescopes are tailor-made for fast wide field astrophotography. For Meade Series 5000 ED APOs is used the finest Japanese FCD1 ED glass (Extremely Low Dispersion glass). This ED Glass is created to achieve a very small change in refractive index with different wavelengths of light. This makes it the perfect choice for a fast, high performance optical design like Meade Series 5000 ED APO Refractor Telescopes.

Fully Multicoated Lenses of Meade Series 5000 80ED APO Apochromatic Refractor ensure maximum light transmission. A true triplet optical design guarantees the textbook color correction you expect from a premium Meade Series 5000 ED APO Apochromatic Refractor Telescope. The precision air-spaced triple element ED objective lens of Meade 80mm ED APO Apochromatic Refracting Telescope focuses red, green, and blue wavelengths to the exact same point.

Fully Extendable Dew Shield/ Sun Shade - an essential accessory - is built-in to the design for your convenience. Adjustable Lens Cell allows collimation of lenses if necessary. Mounting Bracket of Meade 80mm ED APO Refractor OTA allows mounting on a wide verity of Meade and non-Meade German Equatorial Mounts and almost all photo tripods. Machined Aluminum Crayford Style Focuser means smooth and repeatable focusing with no image shift.
