The German Equatorial Mount is engineered by Meade for high-performance activities. The EQ Mount features heavy-duty castings that are helpful for high powered observing, and astrophotography. For smooth tracking the German EQ Mount has High-Precision Worm Gears located on both axes. These RA and Dec axes move effortlessly on four stainless steel ball bearings. Adding to the smooth tracking is the High-Precision Pointing (HPP) function that further enhances accuracy by placing objects in the exact center of the field of view. Another function is the Periodic Error Correction (PEC) which corrects periodic error in the RA axis, minimizing guiding corrections during astrophotography. The MEAD LDX75 Schmidt Newtonian telescopes (6" f/5, 8" f/4, and 10" f/4) and the Achromatic Refractors (5" f/9, and 6" f/9) are supplied with an upgraded Meade 8x50 viewfinder, and the standard precision all-metal 1.25"/2" O.D. rack & pinion focuser. The Meade refractors also have improved metal dew shields and heavier duty objective cells. In addition, like the Meade 6" refractor, the Meade 5" telescope has had a system of collimation screws added to the main objective cell.
