Goldfisch Fat and Oil Extractor, Labconco*For determination of fat and oil content in samples not exceeding 5g. Uses solvents whose boiling range does not exceed 85°C.
Reduces extraction time from 16 hours to approximately 4 hours. Frame is constructed of anodized aluminum. Extraction process involves locking any of 6 Alundum extraction thimbles to condenser and applying heat. Solvent condenses and washes down through sample into boiling solvent below. After extraction, solvent reclaiming tube replaces sample container. Solvent chamber is a beaker which is weighed before extraction begins. This beaker is also weighed after extraction and final solvent evaporation. The increase in beaker weight indicates the weight of fat or oil extracted.
A 3/8" IPS (International Pipe Standard) control valve on the upper left side is for connection to a water source. A 3/4" IPS water outlet on the upper right side is for connection to an open drain of at least 3/4" IPS. An on/off switch is lighted red when in the on position.
Listed in AOAC* methods for determining fat and oil. Exhaust flammable solvents inside an explosion-proof fume hood.

Supplied with six 100W heater elements, 6 stirrup supports, 6 stainless steel condensers, and 6 automatic pressure-release valves. Includes 12 thick-wall borosilicate glass 100 mL beakers with flanged, ground top. Also includes 6 Alundum extraction thimbles, 6 heat covers, 6 cork gaskets, 6 beaker rings, 6 upper condenser gaskets, 9 sample tubes, and 9 solvent reclaiming tubes.
