More about Digital Cameras

Have you always wanted to capture that perfect moment of your friends or maybe your child? A digital camera is one of the best elements to not simply capture that moment, but also create art! There are many mediums out in the world that let you use them, or are known worldwide as mediums for art, and photography is relatively new. With less than a century of use, photographers like Ansel Adams and many other large artist flourished as they sought out to stop time, to show the rest of the world what they saw and how they perceived it. Maybe you are going to travel somewhere where you have never been or may never go again; don't you want to show your friends what it was like? Sure the artistic perception of words can draw an image, but with a society that is absorbed in visual depictions, photographs are number one! There is a large variance of cameras one could use. You may get a small point and shoot digital camera for next to nothing, to being able to buy a quality grade SLR camera. So what makes one camera better than the other? Is the $500 difference really seen in the picture? The question is YES! In cameras, just like most optics, price will almost always dictate your quality. So you don't want to spend a lot but are considering of maybe making some free wallpaper for your computer screen of that beautiful sunset you saw in Hawaii. Don't forget to check out the nature wallpaper for a wider variety. You don't need an SLR but it definitely helps. With technology in cameras moving at the speed of light, the light weights are beginning to catch up to the heavy weights. Some may ask, well I saw a digital camera at my local store for $100, why should I spend $500, what is the point? Well it comes down to what the camera is being used for. Some cameras use standard AA batteries while some have a sleek rechargeable battery. We strongly recommend cameras that come with a rechargeable battery, since they hold a longer charge and you spend less money on energy in order for you to be able to use a camera. Most cameras under $200 typically will use AA batteries and all above will come with the rechargeable. So then you may ask, well what brand. Well you have to consider the variable that every camera needs a memory card. There are currently 4 formats of memory cards that are used by the general public: SD, XD, Compact Flash, & Memory Stick. A majority of the non SLR cameras (under $1000), typically use SD memory. This memory is cross compatible with many of the manufacturers of digital cameras. We recommend cameras that use SD memory, since this camera memory is less expensive than all the others. The last thing we strongly recommend is to look at the type of lens the camera uses. If a camera uses a lens that is not retractable and or not labeled with a known lens manufacturer than you have to reconsider this option. A retractable lens brings in a lot more light, thus better quality of image. Overall digital cameras have grown substantially in the amount of tasks and the level of quality that they have been able to produce. The number of pixels is on the rise and prices dropping as manufacturers continue to bring in newer and better cameras. If you have any more questions regarding your next camera purchase, whether you are going to go out and try to create some amazing nature wallpaper or maybe even a few amazing pictures of your kids at their next recital, we have experts to help you! We have a full line of digital cameras from every manufacturer we carry!
