From our 2009 data, we learned that customers were all across the board as to which type of binoculars they preferred. Either they were consistent in purchasing marine binoculars or birding binoculars, or they were in love with military binoculars and even the giant binoculars. We did see that loyalty was very consistent among particular brands. Application was the key factor in choosing a size. Astronomy binoculars are not made to the same specs as compact binoculars. Knowing this, not only have we separated our OpticsPlanet Brilliance Awards top performers by size range and application, but by ergonomics and handiness per our knowledgeable product experts.
