Designed for high throughput and versatility, these high-performance centrifuges can process 6L of fermenter output in less than 10 minutes, deliver a subcellular fraction at 82,000g, run 24 microplates at a time, and separate live cell populations with elutriation. Centrifuges feature switched reluctance (SR) drive technology, which shortens cycle times and eliminates waiting for sample at the end of the run. The Friction Reduction System (FRS) ensures more speed, less noise, lower temperature/low heat output, and low energy consumption compared with traditional centrifuges. Safety features include automatic rotor identification, which optimizes temperature control based on the rotor, and ensures samples are at the intended temperature. The dynamic rotor inertia check ensures that no rotor can be run above its rated speed. Ergonomic features include a lower worksurface height for easier installation and unloading of rotors, as well as a footpedal for hands-free door operation. Centrifuge door swings up and out of the way for easy access to the rotor chamber. The XP model features a traditional control panel with tactile knobs, a large digital readout, and two acceleration and three deceleration rates. The XPI model features a digital interface which allows the user to view set and run conditions simultaneously, and to select a rotor by name, rather than number code. This interface is fully compatible with SpinTrace* II software and also features 12 acceleration and 13 deceleration rates, a delay start function, run times up to 99 hours and 59 minutes, and hold and w2t functions.
